Montana

I've been having a great time. I absolutely love it here in Montana. The drive out took 4 days (could have made it in 3), but I got to stop in a lot of places and see things. Stayed the night in Mitchell, SD to see what that was like -- they have a "Corn Palace" which is actually a basketball arena, but the outside is covered in ears of corn, corn husks, and wheat shafts. They have murals all over which are totally made of ears of corn.

Got to go to Mt. Rushmore for the evening lighting ceremony which was neat (if not really cold). Stopped at the Crazy Horse Monument -- that thing is huge. I don't think it will be finished in another 100 years.

Stayed in Cody, WY, home of Buffalo Bill Cody of the Wild West Show fame. Had a burger and fries at the Irma Saloon which was in the hotel which used to belong to Buffalo Bill.

Then I drove through Yellowstone on the way to Big Sky. I've been back to Yellowstone 3 times and plan to go more. There is so much to see. It is a huge active volcano, and the geyser basins look like the moon (with water), then there are the rivers. The biggest is Yellowstone which has 2 falls, one 309 feet tall. They even have their own colorful canyon which I hiked yesterday. And the animals. Have seen buffalo, elk, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and I've seen 5 different moose since I've been here. That is unusual. The one picture that is my passenger window with the top of the buffalo showing -- he walked right by my truck -- could have reached out and touched him.

Also you'll see a picture with snow covered pine trees -- this was my view on Sunday morning. Had about a foot of snow on my deck. It's been unseasonably cool here (highs in the 40's), and I think it is suppose to snow again tonight. But it should get into the 60's and 70's this weekend.

In July I go to Bozeman, and I'll spend more time at my property and the surrounding area.

Take care.....enjoy the pictures.
